Also CAScratcher20 that 1 in 6 million isn't the "true" odds. If that jackpot ticket isn't even in your town your odds are 0.

Just looked at the retailers guide for August three new games are coming out August 25th.

    $10.00 California Millionaire Club

    $5.00 Fantastic 5’s

    $1.00 Fast $50’s

I wonder which games are going to end

I just got my first comp!

Walked into my normal place and bought eight $5 LLs and four $500 Frenzys. The guy behind the counter (who I've always assumed is the owner, now I think he must be) told me he'd give me a $5 ticket free! I guess I play there a lot. I took a $500 Frenzy to avoid any complication in case I hit it big.

The free ticket was not a winner. The original $60 paid $20, one $10 and two $5/TICKET wins. Turned that back into two $5 LLs and two $500 Frenzys. All four of those didn't win.

Still, that surprise free ticket just made my day today.

Since the Lottery is limiting the 2nd Chance entries to 1000 per month, Dumpster Diving is the smartest way to play the 2nd Chance replay. I think the 2nd Chance limit should be much less than a 1000 entries per month. I mean come on, if you're not DD even on the cheap end that's a 1000 dollars per month. That's wasting a lot of cash or a lot of Dumpster Diving.

It is sad indeed that there was a dumpster diver who posted on the CALottery Facebook page long time ago about winning $100k on 2nd Chance. CALottery has put in the 1000 ticket limit to mitigate the advantages of dumpster diving, but I think the workaround to that is to create multiple accounts with different household names.

I think the $10 game will not replace any game as CA Gold, 20X Crossword, and $10 LFL are ending.

The $5 Fantastic 5's (looks to be a new game concept people are looking for) probably will replace Silver 7's

The $1 Fast $50s will replace $1 LFL

There used to be a $5 game in the Summer of 2007 called California Millionaire, before the replay program began, there was a special contest where 5 monthly winners were chosen to win $1 million.

I have a gut feeling there will be a promotion for the $10 California Millionaire Club right after WoF promotion ends.

Must be at the right place at the right time to win. I've known that for quite a while.

Only 16 out of the 21,000 retailers will have a jackpot ticket so, less than a fraction of 1% chance a retailer will even have the ticket.

And those retailers are spread throughout the entire state of California.  That's the equivalent of rolling a die without a 6 but needing a 6 to win the Jackpot. The odds of winning 5 out of 5 in PB is the same no matter which retailer you go to in the state.  The odds are better in the 2nd Chance draw, which like I said earlier makes Dumpster Diving the smartest way to play. I've been lucky this year with a $1K win and two $500 wins. But I'm through with the 90 percent losers in games like the Crossword and winning a free $20 ticket juts doesn't get me motivated. I'll pick up an occasional scratcher when I'm down in LA County where the winners live but that's it.  28 chances to win on a $20 scratcher is also 28 chances to lose.

Oh, jeez, I saw that $10 "California Millionaire" ticket...another number match with a $100 fast spot. BORING!! Wouldn't be surprising to see that it has the same odds as the WOF, seeing as how both advertise eight $1M top prizes. The $5 ticket looks all right though, with some multiple games.

Nice to hear that a good gesture of loyalty, since the retailer can buy the tickets at 6% off, if you spend $83 on scratchers (you've probably spent way more) there they are giving you pretty much their entire profit with that Free Ticket.

The free ticket is very minuscule compared to what casinos give out.

I've had three occasions where I got 11 tickets accidently from a roll when I asked for 10, all three times it was on a bad part of the roll and lost the majority, so having the extra ticket did not help me.

You're probably right about the same WoF odds structure for the $10 game. I see how it states how much of the prize pool are in the $50 - $1000 range, striking similarities to WoF.

The lottery games no matter what all require dumb luck at the very end whether is the non-location dependant benefit of Draw Games (at 50% payout), or lower volitility (albeit still rather high) of Scratchers (68% - 76% payout for $5 to $20 games).

I do not think Powerball in general is a popular game despite the 3 jackpot winners in the recent year. Despite the mini jackpot being so high (previous high was for the $590 million draw at $5.2 million without roll over since the previous $425 million draw had a 5/5 winner), the progressive climb has been much slower in the past few months (normally grows $400k or more each draw, but as of late just $200k). The fact that California Lottery still has to be more aggressive with marketing/promoting Powerball shows the lack of popularity of it.

I liked the 56-46 matrix of Mega Millions more than this $2 Powerball. I see the current 75-15 matrix doing better than Powerball in this state.

I've must have played a couple hundred plays at $2 each on Powerball since its inception on April 2013, with the best winning being $7, its not a good feeling to have to only win 4% of your money back.

Just checked the Georgia thread and saw they have a $10 that looks exactly like our new $20.

I guess if the lottery saves on design they have more money to kick back to players... right? Jester

Man, if you diving into dumpsters to get scratcher tickets, your life must be in the toilet.  $100k and then taxes on that isn't going to fix your life if it's that bad to begin with.  Probably some drunk who hangs out at the liquor store all day long.  There are like bugs in Huntington Beach.

I try not to get too critical of people who live and die with the lottery but the whole dumpster diving thing is just pathetically sad.

I went to the news stand in West Hollywood where someone hit the top prize when the first $20 tickets first came out and bought four of the new $20 tickets. Unfortunately, they all lost.

I just saw that ticket from the Georgia thread. I think GTECH produced this game for California, Pennsylvania, and Georgoa. The state lottery pays about 1% of the revenue to GTECH produce the games. There is virtually not much left to pay to the players thereafter.
