This is the last day to grab a Florida Raffle ticket!  The window closes at 11:59:59 pm.  Is anyone aware of the numbers update?  Sum Buddy reported yesterday at noon.  Good luck to us all!

January 1, 2016 News Flash:

It was a twist of fate, or more fittingly, a serendipitous karma explosion, that led to seven Lottery Post members winning the seven $1 million dollar top prizes offered in the latest Florida lottery Holiday Millionaire Raffle...

I'm feeling a jackpot win coming my way!

I bought one at 10:51 around the 550,700 range, and another in the 552,600 range at 11:36, so they're selling at around 2,000 per hour right now.  Sales rate may increase later in the day.  They need to sell at a rate of approximately 16,500 per hour for a sellout.

I may buy another one later in the day.

Good Luck to all ticket holders! Sun Smiley

Sounds like, even with a huge upswing in last hour sales, it may only make it to 600,000, maybe 650,000.  That certainly helps the already great odds!  Yes Nod

Almost 569,000 at 5:00.  Sold about 16,400 since 11:35, just shy of an average of 3,000 per hour.  So an average sales rate of almost 26,000 per hour needed to sell out.  Don't think it's gonna happen.

Holiday MILLIONAIRE RAFFLE tickets will be sold beginning Sunday, November 15, until Wednesday, December 30, 2015, or until all 750,000 tickets are sold, whichever occurs first.

does this mean the raffle could go longer than dec 30?

It is now at 576k as of 7PM. I seriously doubt they will sell close to 200k more tonight. Better odds for everyone!

For those out of state folks like myself participating in this raffle, would the state income tax obligation from your home state motivate you to relocate to Florida? Our rate in NC is 5.75% which would be almost 58k...that may very well be enough for us!

Key words "whichever occurs first".  If all 750,000 tickets are sold before 11:59:59 pm tonight (12/30) sales obviously would end at that point in time. Otherwise, ticket sales will end at 11:59:59 pm regardless of how many are sold.  To answer your question directly, according to the rules, the raffle will not go longer than December 30.

It's not going to matter.  Since this is not an annuity payout your liability will rest in the state in which you resided upon the purchase of the ticket.   This takes for granted you are a US citizen.  So, unfortunately even if you move to Florida before you claim a prize, but after you purchased the ticket, your NC tax rate is going to apply.  Also remember, the burden of proof is on you to prove you were a resident at the time of purchase, not the tax man to prove you were not.  If it were an annuity you may feasibly become a Florida resident after the first year and fall under the Florida no state tax for the remainder of the annuity, if you were to stay a Floridian, and assuming tax laws wouldn't change.

I don't know if there's any way of knowing for sure, unless you bought a ticket last night at 11:59!  I think they'll be lucky to hit 650,000.  When they post the winning numbers, the higher numbers will appear at the bottom of the list; it should give an idea of the general range.

With the tally being at 576k as of 7PM last night I would be surprised if sales even broke through the 600k barrier. I have 2 tickets (362k and 400k) for the drawing this evening and my husband decided to participate and has 1-ticket (574k) but it's currently in the mail.

I hope someone from LP wins tonight, good luck!
