The Hoosier Lottery board voted Wednesday to hire a private company to oversee sales, marketing and other operations with the goal of earning the state about $2.1 billion in additional revenue through 2028.

Indiana lottery to outsource some operations
The Indiana State Lottery Commission is asking companies to bid on taking over some of its operations.
The commission Tuesday issued a solicitation for companies to bid by Aug. 31 on taking over the sales, distribution and marketing of the lottery, a state agency whose income has shrunk in recent years. It expects to sign a 10-year contract by Nov. 1.

Indiana Lottery chief resigns after lavish office revealed
Hoosier Lottery Director Kathryn Densborn stepped down Friday after coming under fire for moving the lottery to a posh new headquarters in Indianapolis.
Gov. Mitch Daniels said in a statement he accepted her resignation, which was effective Friday.
Densborn came under fire last week following reports of lavish spending on the move from Pan Am Plaza to a 35,000-square-foot office on Meridian Street.
