the winners from manhattan are usually for a lucky 10,000 instant ticket or so or for playing the take 5.The real winners are from where the lottery numbers are drawn every night and those deep areas in albany.I havent seen but one winner in the bronx and that was a set for life jackpot thats it manhattan had 1 jackpot winner in last two years and that was a sterling silver.I  wish i could be the first real winner of 2011.I always ask a store whats the highest jackpot they sold and 500 is always what they say.I know the odds of winning is one  in 4 million on scratchoffs but why are all the prizes in upstate. That's all im saying.i know a retailer who sells so many rolls that he have 3 of each game roll on display. That's right 3 set for life, 3 of everything for last 3 years and still havent sold a real prize yet except a 100k prize in 2007 for win for life spectacular.so even though he sells rolls aint no winner in there.

the most busiest lottery retailer that i go to has 3 lottery clerks and 2 machines and also 3 television sets for quick draw.....so that is basically a total of 5 rolls of each game the lottery has to offer....5 rolls of $30,$20,$10 scratchers etc...they sell at least a few thousand dollars worth a day.....and they told me they never hit a jackpot before....a few 2nd prizes yes but never a jackpot.........i dont think a retailer selling 'more' rolls has a better chance of having the jackpot....i mean theres only a few jackpot and so many losers....i guess its all luck............

It's all 100% random. The ticket numbers (whether its the start, middle or end of the roll) mean absolutely nothing. The place they were bought (whether it's store by store or by county) also means absolutely nothing.  Think of it as a bag full of 6 million black marbles, and one of them is white. Those marbles are then shaken up, and distributed one by one to retailers. Can you think of any methods to getting a better chance of finding the white marble? No? Same thing with the lottery.

Earlier this week I won almost every ticket I bought. Since then, I haven't won a single thing. Not even a FP on Take 5. Totally random.

The lottery is designed for you to lose. It is not Vegas, you can't go "all in" and expect to have a reasonably better chance.

i havent bought rolls lately i been feeling like im just throwing away my money so i decided to just play 300 bucks in the lotto and powerball all on 1 dollar quick pick tickets and i won back a whopping 13 dollars in all those tickets.Too bad for not wanting to throw money away.I did notice that they gave me a lot of numbers that were already drawn the drawing before and 1 ticket even had 4 numbers of the last drawing.I figured even quick picks is a waste of money i rather pick my own numbers than quick pick.James i will buy a roll i really want a million a year for life roll but dont think ill make back the 1500 if theres no prize in that roll

How much are you guaranteed back on the $1,500 roll ?

If I had to choose I would rather buy the roll than $300 worth of Powerball. PB odds are beyond terrible.

I'm pretty sure NY doesn't have any guarantees on rolls.

Still, I imagine you at least get back 50% ? Cause it would be suicide if you lost $1,000 or more ...

Hard to say. The $30 ticket is by far the worst I have ever played. I've literally had better luck on $1 tickets, and I've purchased a fair amount of the $30 ones. (once got three duds in a row, and my biggest win was $35 - so actually just a $5 profit).

You get approximately 50% back, all you have to do is calculate the odds for 50 tickets. I'll do it quickly here...

                              $30.00--1 in 25 ($60 total)

                              $35.00--1 in 6.58 (Around $250)

                              $40--1 in 20 ($80 total)

                              $50--1 in 16 ($150 total)

                              $100--1 in 25 ($200 total)

Those are the prizes you are guaranteed

The least you could expect would be around $700-750 so just about half. Of course you could hit the 500, 1,000, 5,000 prizes if you get a lucky a roll, but you'll most likely toss $700 down the drain if you buy a $30 roll.

I think $5 and $10 are the best rolls to buy in NY
