Yes, you bring up all good points, it's easy to get scammed when there is so much confusion and the con men are always there to take advantage of someone, even I get mixed up sometimes about what games are on what days, or what day it is, sometimes I'll ask for MM on Wed. when I really want PB, and then I catch myself and have to tell the clerk I really wanted PB before she hits the computer keys!
Due to a confusing situation at a slot machine, I was a victim of theft in Atlantic City at the Taj Majal a few years ago. I put $60.35 in the slot machine and immediately received a ticket back for $.35, because the machine was making my money even with the machine denomination of $.50, but I never played on a slot machine which worked that way before, so I got so confused about what was going on, thinking I lost my $60.00 because the machine made an error, or I left my $60.00 at another machine where I was playing previously. Guess what happens? A man who was playing the slots in the same row must have noticed the confusion on my face and says, "You left your money in the other machine!" I never said a word to him, and I was shocked because it seemed like he read my mind, because that's exactly what I was thinking! I guess I got nervous and panicked, so I left the machine to go look for the other machine I was playing on to see if my $60.00 was in it, but I couldn't find it, so I was getting even more nervous and panicky, so I finally decided to get help from a casino employee (it took forever to even find someone on the casino floor to help me, with all the cutbacks in employees) and to make a long story short, it was determined that the con man who told me I left my money in the other machine and conned me into walking away from the machine I was going to play, stole my $60.00! I have to give the con man credit on the way he did it, he saw my confused facial expression and immediately took advantage, he knew exactly what to say to get me away from my machine! I learned a lesson that day, anyone can get scammed, all you need is confusion and panic setting in which lets your guard down, and you are a predator's victim.
The casino employee called the slot manager over, and he told me it happens all the time, and I couldn't get my money back, like he didn't even care. I asked him if the thief would be seen on the security cameras and he said NO, and then I ASKED HIM to check and see if my ticket was cashed, and only then did he get on his phone and make a call to see if the ticket was cashed, and then he told me it was cashed fifteen minutes ago at a machine, not at the cashier's cage! I complained at the casino desk about what happened to me, and told them it's a disgrace that there are no casino employees on the gambling floor any longer to answer questions and/or protect the players, and all I got from them was a ticket for a free buffet! My cousin, who is a police sargeant, told me I should have told the casino that I was going to call the police because I was a victim of a crime in their casino, and they would have given me the $60.00, instead of having the police visiting the casino in front of all their customers. I will never go to Donald's Dump again!
