Lol, I just used that to illustrate the censorship, dallas. I just wanted him to know who he's emulating when he starts down that road of "verboten" words and censorship.
I don't want to debate faith, God or religion here with anyone but I don't think someone saying God bless America or I prayed for this or that hurts anybody.
And I'd be very surprised if most people here didn't agree with that.
But some people are going to be offended no matter what, simply because it's their nature and they actually enjoy being contrary.
Some people just can't live and let live.

My vote is that it has no influence on your chances of winning.
Gonna win.

I was somewhat surprised to see that a movement I once belonged to in Kentucky wasn't listed -The Bourbonists.
I suppose they may have disbanded when a few of us broke away and started our own faction - The Jacques Danielites.
It was a hell of a schism.
Big drunken brawl.
Bourbonist bastages.

"And what is with the cult stuff? There are several denominations as well as independents that do not believe Jesus Christ is God".
exactly. that's exactly what defines a "christian cult".... anyone who knowingly departs from the essentials of the doctrines of Christianity is a cult. the first and foremost litMUST test as to whether or not they are, is if they willifully detour from Jesus Christ being God in the flesh.
that is the most "essential", of ALL the essentials of historical Christianity.
when a person cannot say that (that Jesus Christ is God), scripture tells us to run in the other direction, nothing that comes from that is "truth", and they are nothing more than wolf's in sheeps clothing.
you keep thinking i am going to be PC about this, and yet you know i don't throw my hat into any "favorite people" awards contests
maybe you can tell the board what year your cult decided that God "changed His mind" on who Christ claimed to be? that fact alone ought to underline how long that "truth" has been around .......in comparison to historical never changing / evolving edicts.
..........................................................................................................................................
and no, God is not someone you can strong arm to make Him do what YOU want Him to do, just so He "HAS" to give you all your cult tells you that you "deserve".
prayer (and using the lottery as an example) is just like i said, it's WORSHIP, and just like i said, it isn't so much a frame of mind as asking for something to get what YOU want, it's getting on the same page that God is already on, to see what He already has in store via His will ....future tense.
you imply that we cannot "ask" in that equation, and the answer to that is whole heartily YES WE CAN.
it's just that your cult teaches you have to manipulate God (or attempt to)......so you can "have it all". unfortunately your cult doesn't teach the fullness of Gods character that includes the "no" in that equation.
cherry pick scriptures all you want from your cults hit parade of wishful thinking, but you have ALOT of explaining to do that if that's the way it's 'supposed' to go down, that you can't even pay your bills off of your pick 3, 4, 5 and 6 pursuits off the back of your "God owes me everything" angle. remember when i reminded you how you let too much TMI out in these blogs about your own personal life, and admitted your not going to be on cribs anytime soon?
why is that? because your cults teaching about prayer isn't working out so hot?
how long before it kicks in? you must be not praying quite enough, or your not being bold enough and DEMANDING God do it NOW.
get out the amplified megaphone (but don't let him hear you making perv comments)
you preach it likes it's fact, yet you are empty handed when it comes to the meat-and-potatoes "proof" of your demand that it's so
if you are such the example of how to pray "successfully", especially on the subject matter of the lottery, at some point your claims have to match your accomplishments, and the truth is you haven't even "prayed" your way out of being mr thin wallet yourself.
i actually don't mind confident people who can lay out a successful / bankable plan that's true. but i also know the value that if someone screams"it works", makes it sound easy in it's methodology thereof, and STILL can't mirror a jot or a tittle of it, is full of it.
and, the icing on your anti-freeze laced cake is yet another proof of you being a perv with your sexual imagery "ism" at the end of your post. good job, DD consistency of character.
actually, the older i get, the more i understand about the nature / character of God, the less i feel the need to ask him for stuff or to "fix" my life.
prayer is worship, and as such it involves trust based on an excellant track record within a relationship. God said He will supply "all my needs". suddenly i have to remind Him He is distracted from that part of the committment He made to me?
nope, i DON'T need to remind Him of that. i am the one if anything within that realtionship that is emotionally "forgetful" that He made that comittment to me, so it's MY responsibility to adjust to whatever He decides He wants to do concerning my "needs"
either a no OR a yes. i purposefully put "no" first, because most people only want to hear a yes, and i am demonstrating that i trust God so, a "no" i just as viable within His decison making over my life.
i don't have to "remind Him", nor i most certainly don't have to beg Him.
if i beg or negotiate (which is about what most people attribute prayer to), then MY perspective is way off.
the longer i live, the more i admire Gods ability to take care of me, the less i "pray" about anything. it's not that i don't have intense freedom within the realtionship to ask, i do, but it's more of me already knowing God has my back on all fronts, so i don't need to.
i used to ask ask ask like anyone else that doesn't know better, until i switched gears from my insecurity of "will He", to "of course He will.....but on His terms, and not how i think He always should".
made me "pray less", and "trust more"
me me me me me me me is NOT what prayer is about, or for.
prayer is to acknowledge that God is in control, and i am going to place myself under that blanket
do you have a gaggle of candles and incense around your personal ATM machine at your house, the one that you pasted a picture of the "god" with dollar signs for eyes, the machine that's empty?
that's your cults "version" of prayer
VD, from what you say about prayer, I can only conclude that Jesus Christ sinned because he prayed to God, his Father. Hell, he even taught his disciples to pray and sin.
“give us this day our daily bread”.
I know how the game goes there. You cannot handle the Word so you go back to personal attacks. Your best shot is BS running down your leg and more unsubstantiated doctrine to make God sound like you’re his biggest fan and frequent reader. The cult stuff may stall a few from reading and absorbing things that some wished they were taught long ago, and you want to scare them like I am going to take their minds away. You think it is sin to ask a god for an answer to prayer. You think it is selfish. Well Mr. Visionary, what is a God for?
Isaiah

In light of the recent discussions about the affect of prayer on the outcome of a lottery draw, I am curious to what the average person thinks. I am more interested in the vote outcome rather than the rationale behind the vote. But if there is a discussion, please try to keep it civil.
Thanks

http://www.pflbiblestudy.org/Raven62,
The prayer is a pre-lottery prayer, it ws being said many times before lotteries existed.
It goes something like:
Under the B, 6, under the I, 21 , etc.....

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any. So many systems, so many theories, so few jackpot winners.
There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

TC, you are correct!! My wife and I say a prayer every sunday afternoon at the VFW, " Oh Lord, let us win just one game''. Yesterday, it worked for both of us, twice for her and once for me!!!

My vote is that it has no influence on your chances of winning.
That's the way I feel too but it's so ironic that I was praying before I came on LP just a minute or two ago...what I was praying for was to learn to gamble responsibly because I don't always do that...hardly ever.
I prayed that because I don't want to stop but just get it under more control & let it be fun again...my main game is p3 & I can't really see giving it up anytime soon.
Anyway while I was praying I felt I shouldn't be praying for that because deep down I don't think it was the thing to do so you can imagine my surprise when I logged on & the very first thing I saw was this thread...I could not believe it...it was like God was telling me to read all of these responses & figure out the answer for myself.
I was not going to post about this but decided I would anyway...so there!

Well I would not vote because really nobody knows for sure. All I know is that prayer changes things, I believe you can pray for whatever you desire whether is money or whatever situation you find yourself in, and you want to change it, you can pray. on the other end, people pray every day for different reasons and some prayers get answered and some dont. I think its just a personal belief.

still talking tash, eh joker ?
what makes you think in the ethical game of life that you have the right to do that, when you continually refuse to back up claims you made yourself ?
you could be looked up to as a man of reason, except for the fact that you keep blatantly act one sided, never offering up objective arguements instead of just being a trouble causing jerk.
"Choose wisely, cause if you don't, you could end up in a bad part of town somewhere up there in the Ether"....
there isn't anything "objective" for the sake of universal truth in that statement.
your just a troll looking to cause strife within peoples beliefs systems.
your posts are aimed at doing harm, not "enlightening" people.

Your response is confusing. On the one hand you write "nobody knows for sure" and then you follow that up with a contradictory "All I know is that prayer changes things".
So the question is, does prayer change things for the better or for the worse?
