I pray to win all the time!  And when I hit,  HE is who I thank!  When I lose,  I blame myself.

Joker (Pac) you just can't let something go,  where do you get your statistics?  I have a good idea where that place is.   People can't read your mind,  that would be very scary.

But I am going to make an anecdote:

It goes something like this:

"Everybody wins the lottery when they die!  If they played a good game with their life."

Praying to win a game of chance is single A minor league prayer as compared to the prayers you see writtren down in hospital chapel prayer books.

If you want to see some sincere, devout prayers read a few of those.

    jarasan,

Some native Americans have a belief that when someon dies and they get to heaven the first thing they say is, "Why was I so serious?"

Those who run the lotteries love it when players look for consistency in something that's designed not to have any.

    Lep

There is one and only one 'proven' system, and that is to book the action. No matter the game, let the players pick their own losers.

I do not believe in praying for money. Do what you can for others...don't cop out with - charity begins at home. Take care of what you need but

always remember others too. Do what you can no matter how small. Believe me, you will be rewarded. Give without thoughts of what you'll get

in return, that sours the whole purpose. I think God's mailbox is full of prayers for money, He won't answer them all. Did you ever wonder why

some prayers go unanswered? I think because you are supposed to learn something from not having something given to you...whether that's

being a more patient person, a more generous person or a more compassionate or stronger person..I'm sure there is some lesson there.

Someone is probably going to jump on that word: compassionate...some say that's what God should be. He doesn't have to be anything more

than He is....we have to be much more than we are though.

Try the hard way...change what you think you deserve and remember the true meaning of want and need. Most of us don't need half of what

we want and there's so many more that don't have the opportunity to experience what it is to want. Their needs are so great that even the

smallest need being met is a gift from God and answered with genuine, heartfelt thankfulness. Money isn't evil, it's just in the wrong hands it

brings out the worst in some people. Maybe some people are better off without too much of it.

The most beautiful thing God gave each one of us...............free will,  you know,  making choices,  thinking etc..  This is what we do when we choose numbers,  pray,  go to church,  get ice cream,  or go to a casino.

This is a fact,  and fortunately we still have the freedom to think and choose freely in the USA.  Don't think we don't,  or think everything is being secretly controlled,  or how could I say this: "Jennifer Lopez for president!":

Yes CT,  Indians are very in tune with death,  it is,  but another journey.

My point is......... and let's be clear,  I can pray for numbers or whatever I want to,  I don't give a ratz ass what anyone does, it is my opinion just like anyone elses' because opinions are just like a$$401e$  most all people have one or something like it.

p.s. I've been to too many funerals recently and have another tommorow for an Alzheimers victim,  we pray for the Alzheimers patient in advanced stages for God to be merciful,  for they will be free of the shackles of Alzheimers at last.

Can you pray if you don't believe in God?  (I am just playing devil's advocate, not that I believe in the devil either!)

Isn't that an oxymoron? Who would you pray to? An alien maybe? Come to think of it, you may actually be correct. I do believe that the ancient folks were really dealing with aliens, and thinking the aliens were Gods.

Notice in the link below, the last pic in the series is the most interesting to me.

i can answer the question of why "millions of children die",  vs an accusation that God "doesn't care".

the question then becomes, what other "question" will one manufacture in order to excuse God away?

it's not like there aren't answers (because there are).  it's because usually the one asking them, has no real intention to adjust to a truth about God in the first place, once God establishes it to begin with.

chips on shoulders that loom larger than God is,  ALWAYS preclude a legitimate answer...

Yeah, yeah, I know it's an oxymoron--I am just trying to be a facetious punk.  There are so many postings of scripture and religious quotes that I wonder what atheists, agnostics, and people who are otherwise not religious place their "faith" (I am using the term lightly) in when they really want to win the lottery.

Joker17, thanks for sharing those pictures.  I am also really interested in "ancient aliens," but ain't praying to no aliens!

Praying to God is one thing but the principle of believing works for anyone. The best combination is prayer to God and believing in His many promises you can claim. Good question.

As for aliens Joker, there are many distractions of counterfeit nature and like the farter of evils says, “have it your way, but it is always one of my ways and not the true way”.

People do want to believe in superior intelligence from another planet but if you only knew who was drafting those lies you would shun them. Smoke and mirrors in spiritual parlor tricks (muddy waters) gets people looking anywhere but where the spring of living waters is. The pics are interesting tho. How about the Giants?

Jarasan was correct when he wrote that I expected folks to read my mind. And I appologize for that. I just felt that it can't possibly be just me. I can't be the only person who thinks like this, and I took it for granted.

I don't have a chip on my shoulders as you state. I just seek the truth.

Also, I'm not manufacturing excuses to discard God from the equation. I simply ask "simple" questions. In return, I get a question with a question. But I will be a gentleman and address the point you make.

Surely I will have other questions, but that's my right. God supposedly gave us brains so we can analyze, invent, scrutinize, problem solve, in every aspect of our lives.  I'm not trying to excuse God away, but I will ask what I believe to be the right questions in order to satisfy the common sense department in my brain.

I don't blame anyone for not having a simple answer to a hard question. I do however encourage folks to exercise their minds.

                    BTW.....You still haven't answered the question.......Big Grin

The giants you speak of could be aliens who were called the Nephilim.  In this world, and others I'm sure, short and tall entities exist.

There is a saying, "prayer changes things" ..... this is true.  The fervent, effectual prayer of a righteous man availeth much the Good Book says.  It  also advises us to "pray without ceasing".   And yet we must also know HOW to pray - intercessory prayer is oftentimes the best type of prayer, because as we pray for others and they in turn, pray for us - it takes the focus off of ourselves and our unselfish prayers for others, I believe, are more readily answered.

There is a loving, heavenly Father who hears and answers prayers - and though He may answer in His own time, He is always right on time! AMEN!

joker (pac),  if you remember, i had been around for a long time, so i have been able to observe your "how", of how you come to the table on these issues, and it's usually not in the vein of "asking",  but moreso as a sarcastic bent.  that's not the hallmark of a man looking for "answers".  i was merely stating a truth, that if a person is bent on coming up with excuses (vs actual answers/solutions), there isn't a prayer that a person with that attitude will ever come to a logical conclusion about anything in life, especially about God.  i don't know what circumstance happened in your life that precludes your every attempt, but,  i can assure you that whatever "it" was,  "it" wasn't Gods fault, and i know that i for one can work to recitify ANY event as far as blaming God for something "bad".  no matter what "it" is.     no matter "who" it happened to
