wow did this kid screw up
First, how do you know it's a mistake and not a ticket that was accidentally left behind? If it was left behind the store may not own it and would therefore have no right to sell it. In general, anyone who finds property has a legal obligation to make an effort to locate the owner. There's also the chance that it was correctly printed at a player's request, but the player then realized they didn't have their money with them. Did the store give the player a reasonable chance to come back and p

what exactly is meant by forming a trust?
Good question. Trust for what? There are about 100 different types of trusts and most are for asset protection. The best contact would be an estate attorney who might also work with a financial planner. AFAIK only an attorney can set up a Trust. Since trusts are usually regulated by state law, the rules aren't always the same. I was told by a very reliable source that if you don't have one, the state might decide what to do with your house, bank account and any other assets like your car, especi

Paranoid or Prudent?
@phileight: I would encourage you to do a bit of research on scandals yourself. I didn't go into great detail because of time and space. To address your point...you are at least partially correct...none of the scandals I mentioned were directly related to blocking numbers so no one would win. However... 1. In the Foreman scandal in Indiana the game was rigged so that friends of Mr. Foreman (a Hoosier Lottery Security Guard) would purchase the winning ticket. By default that means someb

Quik Pic observations from a new LP member...
So what you are saying is, if other pickers have the same tendencies, is that you will seed it falsely, or try to, before Joe Schmoe, (in other words maybe someone like moi) uses it, to prevent sharing jackpots or them benefitting from your chosen numbers if they turn out to be well founded in the draw? What happens if you do that and it HELPS the other person out to win it, despite that not being your original intent? Obviously, most doing so would never know for sure. Consider the GA tru

I am going to try to change the rules about annonymity...
Delaware offers corporations, too. This is one of the things you learn living in Nevada - if a person takes out a safety deposit box at a bank, Uncle Sam can go into that box if they want to, for settling an estate or whatever. If the same person forms a Navada corporation (or any) and takes out the box in the name of the coporation, only an 'officer' from the corporation (i.e., that person) can get into tha box. ____________________________________________ Re: anonymity. How would you feel if this happened to you? Read my story.
For some reason I see too many red flags in this story to take it serious. I usually test the machine to see if it will take a play slip because of problems in the past with lotto machines. Well, the machine literally ate the first playslip. But instead of pressing one of QP or scratch-off buttons you put more money into the machine? So, I insert the same play slip 3 more times until I was out of credits. ------------- I was super pissed that I had 5 of the same plays. Did you re

What are your thoughts on Gift Tax?
i don't know the %, if there is one, but it would probably trigger a W2 that your kids would get or would have to get. The question may not be are they overpaid to wash your car, it may be : are they old enough to receive that kind of money? If the child is an adult, A Family Limited partnership with them as part of it might be in order. You will also have to consider issues like your children and divorce. They talk about winners and divorce, but the last thing that any parent is going to wan

How would you claim?
It depends on which state: (where I live, no anonymity when claiming, where I have played you can claim anonymous). Don't say a word to anyone and remain calm, giddiness would probably make bad things happen. This is the first rule.....the rest is a Rough Draft 1.) Make copies of the ticket. Put original unsigned ticket in a fire proof safe. 2.) Rent a cheap apt/efficiency and change my legal address to the apt/efficiency. Disconnect my landline in my home. Put a for sale sign up in fro

Office Pool Lotto Questions
There are good reasons to avoid pools, but fear of a lawsuit isn't one of them. If you do get sued, congratulations. You'll almost certainly never be sued unless you win a sizable amount. That means you're a winner. Other than never winning, you can't do anything to guarantee that you won't be sued, but you can make it unlikely and you can make it a virtual certainty that you won't lose. There are really only two issues to be concerned about. One is who is a member of the pool, and the other is

Sex Offender Wins$57 Million in Lottery
*Feels like his posts are getting ignored.* At this point I'd still say he's no where near as bad as Daniel Snaycertainly should be open to being sued successfully. But I wouldn'twish him Topous well either. I doubt there's going to be any lawsuit when it comes to the girl (she'd be 21 or 22 now) against Fred Topous from the details in a link to a story in a previous post I made. Though the info I read does seem like quite the predator behavior, how many 35 year old men befriend 13 year
