Do you REALLY think it is possible to predict winning numbers?

    Or the Power Ball itself - Would you Play the Power Ball #21 which hit 25 times out of 439 drawings or play Power Ball #14 which hit 10 times out of 439 drawings.  NO - No one can predict when a certain combination or pattern will hit.   But certain patterns & combinations do hit more than others,  this is a FACT that I have learned thru the years.

      Well, to be honest!,..

      I wouldn't pick either one..!!... not based on the criteria your data shows...Probability Math doesn't work that way.. It doesn't matter how the numbers did in the past...it predicts based on imposing unlimited axioms, onto a limited condition of sequences..!!, which is the sole reason it models any "Hazard" it mimics...so, for the record, I respectfully disagree...YOU CAN predict numbers, if you're savy enough to interpret Probability Math.. Greenfox and I have posted lottery tickets that proves it can be done..

      So, for my money?... I'd pick "20" or "17" as the Pwrball,  if your data is expressing current Stats for 12/21/19's drawing...!

      Why?.........................................................

      because, I am

        Ok... I agree,...but the thread asks the question about "number predictions"...not who's system, if any ,works better ..

        I say, even if you don't win the jackpot, ..If you consistently have 3, 4 or more of the winning numbers in your analysis..that constitutes predicting numbers..!

        Getting them all on the same ticket is the REAL adduceable task..!!

          Here are my predictions for the Power Ball game. 12 17 20 21 32

          My predictions are based on past history's of pattern and combinations & not probability math.

          You can disagree all you want, but my theory has paid off in the past & will continue to pay off in the future.

            The issue of how much history to use has been a topic of much discussion over the years.
            The best I have found to find the right amount of history to use in daily games is to
            create a 100 x 100 matrix of most frequent to least frequent of whatever you are tracking.
            Let excel count which amount of history has been most productive. Use that history in the
             next game. Mileage may vary as he idea of just using a 100 x 100 matrix is not set in stone.
             You kinda half to create a whole bunch of matrix setups to see which one works best, but that
             may be just splitting hairs as to one being better by a count of one for any given game at
             any given time. I have found that if you are tracking sums, vtracs, box frequency count,
            deltas, etc,etc.you find that the most productive history kinda of follow the basic frequency
            count of any indicator. The idea if this type of regression matrix can get you in the ball park
            of what to play next, but have also noticed that the best history tends to change over time. While
            42 games of history may work for awhile it may change upward or downward as the game is constantly
            changing with every new draw. Just my thoughts tho.Hope it helps.

            It would be nice if programmers of software would include a back testing of the ideal amount of history to use

            for any given game but that may be of significant complexity as I am sure someone has thought of it but implementing may not be worth headache.

            Setting arbitrarily the number of history draws for future predictions is never a good idea, no matter how good any history appears to be at any given time. 2 reasons for this: 1) in the world of random numbers statistics fluctuate constantly and nothing is permanent, so your best history may loose its edge very quickly, 2) by using only one history you deprive yourself of a chance of comparing between different histories. The differences may be quite significant and you should be aware of them.

            The ability to compute the effectiveness of selections based on different history is the backbone of backtracking. The backtrack should not only show the number of winners but also their quality - straights and boxes cannot be counted the same as pairs.

            Below is an example of what different history numbers may produce. The data was taken from actual draws of Wisconsin Pick 3.

            4 hot digits -> 30 draws backtrack
            Selected from 15 draws -> 15 wins (1 single, 2 doubles, 12 pairs)
            Selected from 20 draws -> 13 wins (1 single, 2 doubles, 10 pairs)
            Selected from 25 draws -> 13 wins (2 singles, 2 doubles, 9 pairs)
            Selected from 30 draws -> 11 wins (1 single, 2 doubles, 8 pairs)
            Selected from 35 draws -> 13 wins (1 single, 1 double, 11 pairs)
            Selected from 40 draws -> 15 wins (1 single, 2 doubles, 12 pairs)
            Selected from 45 draws -> 12 wins (1 single, 2 doubles, 9 pairs)
            Selected from 50 draws -> 13 wins (1 single, 2 doubles, 10 pairs)

            Screen image for 4 hot digits from 25 draws

            Screen image for 4 hot digits from 40 draws

            Histories of 15 and 40 scored the most winners but history of 25 had better quality winners and thus better earning capability. Also observe the spread between lowest and highest scores (4 wins) which is also quite significant. Stats like these have to be monitored after every draw to see where your preferred history is heading.

            Another example about history differences, the same lottery and time frame as above.

            4 cold digits -> 30 draws backtrack
            Selected from 15 draws -> 16 wins (0 singles, 0 doubles, 16 pairs)
            Selected from 20 draws -> 18 wins (1 single, 1 double, 16 pairs)
            Selected from 25 draws -> 17 wins (3 singles, 0 doubles, 14 pairs)
            Selected from 30 draws -> 18 wins (2 singles, 1 double, 15 pairs)
            Selected from 35 draws -> 15 wins (1 single, 1 double, 13 pairs)
            Selected from 40 draws -> 15 wins (2 singles, 1 double, 12 pairs)
            Selected from 45 draws -> 16 wins (1 single, 0 doubles, 15 pairs)
            Selected from 50 draws -> 18 wins (1 single, 0 doubles, 17 pairs)

            Screen image for 4 cold digits from 25 draws

            Screen image for 4 cold digits from 30 draws

            Looks shocking? How come cold digits so significantly outscored the hot ones? They have not only done it this time they did it many times before. How can you know this without backtracks? Without these stats almost certainly I would have played hots not only as a logical choice but also as a personal preference. Unverified assumptions are a straight way to disasters.

            As for history comparisons, again scores differ across the board; I highlighted only 2, best in my opinion.

            There are 2 reasons why lottery software designers dutifully omit including backtracks in their products: 1) they don't have a clue how to do it, 2) they are afraid the actual results from the software may significantly differ from the marketing promises and this would be a definite no-no. Therefore, there is not much backtracking neither in softwares nor, unfortunately, on LP.

            I don't care about software promises. I want software to deliver facts in shape of statistics and predictions verifiable by backtracks, delivered instantly, reliably and with multiple options - to give me knowledge what wins (or doesn't), when and why. The rest is the job for the substance between ears.

            On the personal note: contrary to lottologix belief I did not find implementing backtracks the most challenging programming task. And even if it gave me an occasional headache, the outcome is definitely worth the suffering.

            And that's my 2 cents about histories. Sorry if this shatters some dreams but that's reality.

                If you are close to IL & like Pick 4, ---- 2019 has been a good year for the numbers 2 5 7 8.

                  They're cool, if there's no huge jackpot to chase,.. pick 3 and 4 digits won't change your lifestyle... but MM, PB will.. so I focus on them..I believe the Pwrball will be "20", or "17"...for 12/21/19...

                    Although I didn't vote in the poll, I'm with Butch. I've noticed something that happens more often than not in a 5/39 matrix game.

                    Year in, year out, in New York's Take5 game the biggest hitter in 365 draws will almost always have 58 hits.  I've seen 58 hits in 365 draws in other states 5/39 games too.  Sure, there have been years where there were a few less than 58 hits, and years where there were a little more than 58 hits, but if you average many years of data you'll see 58.  This year there are two numbers in Take5 (#19 & #30) with 56 hits in 2019 and there are 10 more drawings to go.  I expect one or the other will end the year with 58 hits. G5

                    Players who've won large lottery jackpots have something in common. Many of them say "I've played the lottery for years, but I never won anything but small prizes."   That's normal or typical, but it's also why you should not get discouraged and stop playing.  Who knows?  Maybe someday you'll say "I've played the lottery for years...."

                      If you are close to IL & like Pick 4, ---- 2019 has been a good year for the numbers 2 5 7 8.

                      Especially for the Mid Day drawings.
