wow did this kid screw up
The stupid mistake is thinking that you've got a clue. It's an especialy stupid mistake, since I said I used a betslip. As for a lawsuit, you don't need a really good case. You only need the filing fee. As we've recently seen with a lawsuit over a pool, once somebody files a lawsuit even the share of the prize that isn't being disputed may be frozen until the case is settled. I don't see any reason at all to buy a ticket that the original purchaser didn't leave with, when they'll be glad to p

Types of Lottery lawsuit to lookout for.
Havent you heard the phase deep pockets before? Poor people dont get sued. Wealthy people and/or people who are well insured get sued. It often has nothing to do with the merits of the case. Adam Corrolla talks about how he has FU money, meaning, that when people threaten him with a frivolous lawsuit and demand 10k for it to go away, he can say, FU to them. He rather spend a couple of hundred thousand fighting the bogus lawsuit in court than roll over on obvious extortion.

Interesting happening within our lottery-pool at work... no not really
This has fustercluck written all over it. Besides the problems with the pool itself, if lawsuit comes out of it the company is almost certainly going to be included as a defendant, and I'm guessing that any major prize will guarantee a lawsuit. I'll assume that the partner, intern and notary are all non-participants? Based on the 26/696 share I'm assuming some people didn't choose to kick in the extra $50. How was it decided which tickets they have a share of? Even if the agreement spells tha

Are there any advantages to NOT being anonymous?
If a Freudian slips they shouldn't do it on camera cause everyone can see that they are faking and then they cant file a lawsuit.

Why do you need a lawyer to pick up your lottery check?
I doubt a lawyer would charge you 10-30% of your lottery winnings. They only take 10-30% if you win a lawsuit because they don't make you pay upfront. They get nothing if they lose the lawsuit. At most the lawyer would charge you a few hundred $$ an hour to prepare paperwork and show up at the lottery office with you or on your behalf.
